Green Hornet #3 Cover

Green Hornet Year One #2 Cover
~~ Click on the image for biggie ~~

Hello Pulp Friends,

I am so sorry but - as some of you who follow me on Twitter may already know - I had some major computer crash this past week that really put me behind on some work, so I have been spending most of the time these past few days setting up my laptop for work (with all the compatibility issues) and catching up on projects.
I know this is the second week without a new BB page but sometime real life (and freaking technology) gets in the way of the fun.
Hope you all will forgive me.

To make up for the missing page, here's an absolute preview: the cover for Green Hornet Year One #3, from the initial pencil sketch to the rough color pass to the final inks (below) and final cover in color (above).
Hope you guys dig it.

Cheers,
Francesco

KATO: Origins!

Kato Year One
(click on the above image for larger view)

Hello Pulp Friends,

Remember that KATO teaser I posted a few weeks ago?
Well, now that the solicitations for May are starting to make their way on the web, I am happy I can finally show and tell what that teaser was all about :)
I will be providing the main covers for the KATO ORIGINS mini "WAY OF THE NINJA". This mini is a spinoff of Matt Wagner's "GREEN HORNET YEAR ONE" ongoing, even if it's written and drawn by a different creative team (Jai Nitz and Colton Worley).
The above is the cover for issue 1 and hopefully soon will eb able to show the one for issue 2 :)
Hope you guys dig it :)

Have a great Pulp evening everyone :)

Cheers,
Francesco

Hello Pulp Friends,

First please let me apologize for the missing KARA BOCEK episode this past Sunday: I was out of house most of the day and couldn't finish the page in time. To make up for that, if all goes smoothly, we my have double page next Sunday :)

Meanwhile here's my latest COMIC TWART contribution: "Johnny Recon" created by fellow Twartist Mitch Gerads and his good freind Scott Dillon.
This was fun to draw and reminded me of the good times I had while drawing Fear Agent a couple of years ago (Rick, when am I up again for a one shot? ;))
Pure Pulp Sci Fi Fun :D
Below the original inks before color and type treatment.

Cheers and stay warm,
Francesco

Green Hornet Year One
~~ Click on the image for biggie ~~

Hello Pulp Friends,

CBR had an interview with Matt Wagner and John Cassadey about Green Hornet Year One yesterday on their website, and they were showcasing a few colored pages from issue 1, so I think it's cool if I show some of my color work over Aaron Campbell's beutiful inks in here as well. You guys are in for a treat, so make sure to pre-order this book :)

Click on the image for a closer look and hope you like what you see :)

"The chief part of the stories, however, turned upon the favorite spectre of Sleepy Hollow, the Headless Horseman, who had been heard several times of late, patrolling the country; and, it was said, tethered his horse nightly among the graves in the churchyard."
From "The Legend of Sleepy Hollow" by Washington Irving, 1820.

~~ Click on the image for biggie ~~

Hello Pulp Friends,

I can finally reveal my cover for issue 2 of the Green Hornet Year One series :)

When Dynamite asked me to provide alternate covers to Matt Wagner's GH Year One books, I decided to give to this whole run (of covers) a pulpy, old movie poster feel to it. Hope you guys are digging it becuase there will be more in that style where this is from :)
Green Hornet Year One #2 will be in stores in May so look for it in March's Previews.

Can't wait to show some of the colors I have done on interiros of #1.

Cheers,
Francesco

Hello Pulp Friends,

To keep it in the WWII theme, here's a pinup I just finished for a retrospective dedicated to Garth Ennis (in this case: Enemy Ace War in Heaven) during the upcoming Napoli Comicon, Naples, Italy.

Geez how much love drawing this kinda stuff :D

Below the B/W inks, which turned out almost with a Toppi vibe to them, and a sepia/greyscale old-looking version.
Hope you guys enjoy :)

Cheers and stay warm,
Francesco

J.A.K.E. II Reporting for Duty

G I Robot

Click on the above and below illo for LARGER views.

Hello Pulp Friends,

Some more Pulp fun done for the Comic Twart jam.
Of course, being the Pulp afecionado I am, I couldn't be more happy with such choices. And I am hoping such joy breathes through this week's illo.
I am posting her eon Pulp Sunday also the intial rough sketch, the inks, and a detail of the final rendition.

Now if only I could work on a full mini showcasing GI Robot and set in a (of course Weird) World War II action, I would be (can you believe it?) even happier :D

Cheers,
Francesco

Kara Bocek pag.8

Kara Bocek page 8
(click on the above image for larger view)

Hello Pulp friends :)

The following events take place between 10.12 pm and 11.12 pm ;)
Sorry for the 24 nod, but I just realized I am almost telling the story in real time. Plus today it's Monday (instead of SUnday) and that's when the new 24 is on ;)
Yep, a lil' late Kara Bocek page (blame it on the Superbowl of yesterday or, most likely, on a couple of work deadlines), but I hope it was worth the wait.

Hope you enjoy page 8 and please bring on the love :)

Hope you all had a wonderful Pulp Sunday yesterday!

Cheers,
Francesco

Torpedo 1916-1926

Torpedo 1916
Hello Pulp Friends,

I am so happy the guys at Comic Twart are chosing pulp heroes as topic for the weekly jams. That allows me to tackle some of my fav characters, like Abuli & Bernet's TORPEDO for example :)

Above you see my entry for the jam: a very young Luca Torelli in a little scene I titled "My First Fedora" :)

This one of the nr.2 of the 3 ideas I had for the jam, and below you can see the nr.3 which I will eventually develop in a more finished illo (when I get chance). The first idea is also looking for a abit of time so I can sit down and inkwash it ;)
Hope you guys dig it :)

Cheers,
Francesco

Zorro #19

Zorro #19
Hello Pulp Friends,

today issue 19 of Zorro hits the shelves and I wanted to give a little preview of it in here as well. Issue 19 and upcoming #20 are my best Zorro books to date so I really hope you guys are picking these up becuase you are going to really enjoy them, I promise :)

This whole third arc has been so much fun to draw, specially thanks to Matt who came up with scripts that made me play with old horror EC styles and classic old western settings. FUN! :)

Anyhow, enough talking. Head to the stores, pick the book and lemme know if you agree or disagree with me ;)

Cheers,
Francesco
